چکیده

In a pervasive system it is essential to understand the intent of the user in order to predict his/her future behaviour. This in turn will help to minimise the user’s administrative overheads and assist the user to achieve his/her goals. The aim of this paper is to present some aspects of how user intent may be handled. It focuses on the architecture supporting the proactive features of the Persist pervasive platform. A formal definition of the task discovery problem in user intent is provided. The use of the discovered task model to predict the user’s next intended task/action is introduced including the way in which user context can assist in the prediction of the user’s intended task/action. 12

Enabling Proactivity in Context-aware Middleware Systems by means of a Planning Framework based on HTN Planning

Today’s context-aware systems tend to be reactive or ‘pull’ based the user requests or queries for some information and the system responds with the requested information. However, none of the systems anticipate the user’s intent and behavior, or take into account his current events and activities to pro-actively ‘push’ relevant information to the user. On the other hand, Proactive context-awar...

Robot control system using SMR signals detection

One of the important issues in designing a brain-computer interface system is to select the type of mental activity to be imagined. In some of these systems, mental activity varies with user intent and action that must be controlled by the brain-computer system, and in a number of other signals, the received signals contain the same activity-related mental activity that should be performed by t...

Work-centered Infomediary Layer (WIL): An architecture for adaptive interfaces

Active interfaces that act as infomediaries between underlying systems and their human users offer a rich and comprehensive solution to the pervasive problem of (lack of) usability in computer-based work environments. However, they also pose a substantial technological challenge. The paper describes a novel work-centered active interface architecture, called the Workcentered Infomediary Layer (...

A New Approach for Service Discovery and Prediction on Pervasive Information System

Recent evolution of technology transformed the way we interact with Information Systems (IS), leading to a new generation of IS, the Pervasive Information Systems (PIS). These systems have to face heterogeneous pervasive environments, whose complexity they must hide from end-user. In order to reach transparency and proactivity necessary for successful PIS, new discovery and prediction mechanism...

Development of decision support tool for municipal solid waste management system in Iran based on life cycle assessment approach

Background and Objective: Various aspects including the environmental burdens, social and economic consequences of the waste management(WM) scenarios must be considered to come up with a comprehensive WM plan. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach is a systematic method to quantify the environmental burdens of each WM scenario. Materials and Methods: This study used an LCA approach to develop a...
